Horse Camps

Monday- Thursday 

9am-2pm Small group session ( 10 riders maximum)

Ages 9 +

(ages 6-8 currently taking lessons at GMF are also eligible. Others 6-8 will be considered with evaluation (Prior riding & horse experience/ability to follow directions, etc.)

Activities:

Farm Feeding Each camper will take part in the feeding process and will be assigned tasks each day

Barn Cleaning  Each camper will take part in the daily chores at the barn

Horse anatomy Each camper will learn basic horse anatomy

Proper grooming  Each camper will learn to properly groom their horse

Proper tacking/saddling/bridling Each camper will learn the proper process of putting on and taking off tack

Ground work/handling Proper handling of the horse on the ground is the first step in establishing leadership

Extensive ride time Campers learn many types of riding styles including English, Western, Vaulting, and Bareback.

Horse bathing Campers will have an opportunity to wash and get their horse show ready. this can include demonstrations in braiding, clipping, and other various tasks

We also have activities including horse painting (literally), costume class (dress your horses up), arts & crafts, and other fun games & events. Some of these may include getting wet so please send a change of clothes if your child will be participating in the water games.

  • What to wear. To avoid discomfort or injury when riding, we recommend wearing long pants and boots. Have your camper bring shorts, etc. to be more comfortable during the day when not riding. If your camper has a riding helmet, please bring along for the week. If your camper does not have a horseback-riding helmet, we will provide one for use during the week.
  • Lunch and snack. Please send your camper with lunch and a snack for each day. If your camper has any allergies, restriction or specific requests, please be sure to note in the registration as we have additional snacks for special times during camp.
